World-famous modern-day spiderman

Hong Kong’s bamboo scaffolders have repeatedly attracted international press for their abilities to climb up and down skyscrapers, and oftentimes move from one building to another at great heights. Enlisting research, engineering, and traditional bamboo building techniques, CL3 Architects built a temporary 20-metre footbridge made of dyed bamboo poles for deTour, the design profession’s annual public engagement event held at PMQ. On Route D, visitors, too, can experience what it is like to have their weight supported by bamboo and move freely between two buildings while high up in the air. The fully recyclable and light-weight bamboo bridge structure was built by scaffolding specialists without damaging any building surfaces.
