What do a weapon and a piece of furniture have in common?

Bamboo. In Kendo, or Japanese traditional swordsmanship, practice swords made of bamboo are manufactured to meet stringent specifications in terms of strength, balance of weight, and flexibility. These robust readymade swords, after being compressed by recycled waste bamboo strips, are turned into the legs of a Qin-Jian chair. A chair becomes literally as mighty as a sword. The back support and seat are composed of bamboo slats. These 100% bamboo-made chairs celebrate traditional bamboo craftsmanship and were designed by Dragonfly Gallery’s Jeff Shi Dah-yue with social and environmental responsibilities in mind.
