Bamboo lacquerware helps boost social and economic development in Myanmar

Master lacquer artist Veronica Gritsenko collaborated with local lacquer craftspeople in Bagan, Myanmar to create Black Elephant Lacquerware, an update on traditional lacquerware that were originally made by men. Currently, around 200 skilled craftspeople, both women and men, proudly manufacture these lacquerware products made of bamboo featuring contemporary design and excellent quality. The lacquerware workshop has brought about much needed social and economic development in the ancient city with a rich history.
