The interplay of light, shadow and paper

Paper is an excellent material to produce shadow, and a three-dimensional calendar comprises paper discs and a glass cone allows the user to see the dates of the month from the shadow cast. Every month, the user of 12 Shining Moments changes the artisan paper disc and puts it on the glass cone. The dates are embossed by a fine laser that cuts patterns onto the paper disc of that month. As light shines on the disc, it casts a shadow revealing the laser cut pattern. Embossing also makes it a tactile calendar that adds intrigue to everyday life. Japan’s SHILUSHI Inc. designed this interesting calendar, which has become a perfect gift for many.
