Upcycled handmade paper that adds value to everyday life

Besides its organic and splendid lamp shade composed of paper-made butterfly wings, the beauty of the Icarus lamp is so much more than its appearance. Upcycling agricultural waste from the mulberry tree into beautiful paper, workers use hands to improve the texture and depth of the paper pulp. Such delicate handicraft breathes live into these lamp shades, and the human touch makes every piece of paper wing unique. Icarus was designed by London-based Filipino designer Daniel Latorre Cruz of his own Studio Latorre Cruz, who prefers artisanal modes of creation and local materials to mass production and industrial materials.
