The wooden gadget that is designed to cross sensory boundaries

Ambient lights have been shown to do wonders in urban spaces. By the same token, natural, soothing ambient sounds are a welcomed intervention at home and in the workplace. Forest Notes is a speaker that broadcasts the sounds of the forest in real time. Wood is chosen to build the speaker as it offers superior acoustic quality, and serves as a metonymy for the natural forest that the product tries to bring closer to the hustle and bustle of city life. The speaker’s cubic frame, whose inner walls are subtly curved, is made of chestnut trees and by traditional artisans from Yokohama. The team at the Tokyo-based JVCKENWOOD Design Corporation created Forest Notes.
