Exhibitor’s Stories

Pot of Hills and Mounts is a teaware set comprising a Yixing clay teapot and two tea cups. Ever since the 10th century and the Song Dynasty, Yixing clay teapots have been sought after to brew black and aged tea due to their thermal and surface properties. The teaware’s boxy shape alludes to the Chinese ink brush paintings which depict high mountains, and the slightly curved edges add Zen-like subtleties to the matte black exterior.
