Exhibitor’s Stories

Mortise is a set of utensils that comprises chopsticks, a saucer/chopstick rest, and a bowl. Inspired by the workings of the mortise and tenon joint, chopsticks may be inserted into holes cut into the curved bamboo lid of the cylindrical, flat-bottomed bamboo bowl. When the chopsticks are removed, the lid can be used as a chopstick rest or saucer.
