GREEN HOUSING PIONEER
Located in Tseung Kwan O, Verbena Heights (1997) is the first green and sustainable housing estate in Hong Kong. Designed to promote sustainability using innovative architectural design concepts, the estate features wind-channelling canopies, sun canopies, sky garden, minimal-flush toilets, and large windows. Besides the estate’s creative and extensive landscaping to provide shade and regulate temperature, other environmentally responsible designs improve air circulation in order to reduce the need for air conditioning, help reduce water and energy consumption in each household, and promote a more active, healthier lifestyle.
