A NEW CREATIVE FORCE FOR THE CITY
One of the eight projects listed under the umbrella of the Government’s ‘Conserving Central’ initiative conceived in 2009, the former Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters, has been transformed into a heritage site with two Grade Three Historic Buildings. PMQ has been revived as a creative hub since 2014, housing over 100 Hong Kong create-preneurs, and their workshops and studios featuring lifestyle, fashion and accessories, architecture, gifts and premiums, homeware and a wide range of other designer goods. The architects retained the original verandahs and opened them up into public spaces to stress the concept of community — sharing, connecting, exchanging.

PMQ has made a greater positive impact on society, than just ensuring public awareness of the importance of heritage conservation. It has become a creative platform supporting up-and-coming design talent as well as bringing together patrons and supporters of creativity, design and heritage.
