COMMUNITY BUILDING
History and identity can bring a community together for greater good. Tucked away in a cul-de-sac on the foothills on Hong Kong Island, Pak Tsz Lane Park was created to bring a forgotten space, and the history embodied within it, back into contemporary Hong Kong life. The opening of the park in 2011 commemorates this place as the breeding ground to the Xinhai Revolution during its centenary year. Old trees and a historic water well were preserved as an anchor to the uptown neighbourhood’s significance to early Hong Kong, and an outdoor exhibition gallery guides visitors through a defining period in modern Chinese history.
