Exhibitor’s Stories
The Neon Demo Kit was made to explain neon in a kid’s TV programme. Cardin had a tight timeline, she utilised a character taken from a partial sign she saved back in the days as a volunteer – it was a heritage letterform of the Chinese character ‘材’. With the help of Master Wu Chi-kai, neon tubes were fabricated and installed atop the letterform. It was then mounted on a wooden panel with a deliberately visible transformer, which is usually hidden, to showcase details of a neon sign in a way that is easy for the audience to understand.
