To accompany the exhibition ‘Interlace, textile research’, graphic designer Irma Boom designed this catalogue which is conceived as a textile object. Singer stitching for the binding, the book itself becomes a reflection of the experiment. The exhibition catalogue was also ‘woven’ on site, printed using different techniques and sewn into booklets to make up a complete book in the end. Each ‘chapter’ was published during that summer.
The exhibition is an evolutive exhibition showcasing live research and production on the theme of weaving. The topic of weaving is treated not only as a craft with a long history, but also as a technical, thematic, and critical enquiry; a vehicle for cultural innovation. In the summer of 2019 research and experiments in 3D and digital weaving filled Lafayette Anticipations’ spaces both vertically and horizontally, turning them into a designer’s laboratory.
