At the famed World Heritage site of Kyoto’s Shimogamo-jinja, the Open Weave is a 1.8-cubic-metre tea ceremony room woven in white thread, the result of painstaking labour and precision. Each thread is delicately woven by hand to create the ethereal handmade surface that makes up the whole chamber, conveying the importance and precious value of delicate craftsmanship.
