The Fashion Archive (FA) at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) was developed in 2010 to support fashion teaching and learning with real fashion products. In September 2017, after embarking on a major expansion in terms of space, archived items and storage system, the Fashion Archive was reopened with a newly renovated 360 sqm space that now houses over 1000 iconoclastic fashion pieces, including historical, ethnical, stage and period costumes, contemporary designers’ branded clothing, millineries, shoes and bags. The new Fashion Archive provides wide-ranging real-life fashion resources to enrich students’ learning, appreciation of art, design and culture.

The Fashion Archive attracted thousands of visitors throughout the years, including students, alumni, designers and industry practitioners, as well as the general public at large. It also served as a valuable platform projecting HKDI as a dedicated and committed Institute in the excellence of fashion and design education.
