Lee Kung Man (LKM) is a pioneering knitwear brand introducing weaving technology in South China since 1923 and it has been a century since LKM moved to Hong Kong to accompany the local citizens. LKM uses high-quality materials, and the intensive cultivation has always been consistent. Today, LKM still insists on weaving fabrics with imported cotton yarn and wool to make cool and comfortable cotton clothes, warm and skin-friendly sweaters. It is 100% made locally and is the best choice for many Chinese. To commemorate the 100 years of LKM’s legacy and its establishment, a memorial thematic installation of two works showcasing the brand’s evolution, impact on fashion, and cultural significance will be presented.

Gradient of Centennial
To celebrate the 100 years of legacy, a total of 100 pieces of LKM signature shirts are dyed in 100 different colours, with each shirt representing a year of LKM’s legacy. The shirts are hung on LED-made hanging sticks, echoing with the signature Golden Deer signage of LKM, and arranged as an installation of gradient with different saturation from 4 colour spectrums. It represents the steps in the course of history and the brand is embracing a brighter future like never before.

Slow Stitching of the Legacy
Contrasting and complementing the first work, Slow Stitching of the Legacy, is an artistic yet informative piece of artwork. Using needles and thread as paint brushes and a collection of old LKM clothes from 1980s to 2020s as a canvas, it features iconic stories and handwriting from significant teammates by transforming them into a form of needlework art. Selected stories are hand-stitched on the clothes directly, turning the showpieces into storybooks for the audiences.
