Exhibitor’s Stories
The objects created for the ‘Upcycled Seashell Dinnerware’ were a collaboration between Studio Florian and Christine x Plaisance by Mauro Colagreco, a restaurant known for sourcing seasonal, local ingredients and using sustainable fishing practices. Studio Florian and Christine utilise discarded seashells from local seafood restaurants and repurpose them into a new craft material. This process was done by collecting seashells from a beach next to a local fishing village, cleaning the material and grinding it into a fine powder that can be used as a casting medium. The ‘Upcycled Seashell Dinnerware’ project advocates for a more sustainable and circular food industry, where even food waste material can be developed into a resource for change.
